Dr. Rahmaty is an Assistant Professor of Child and Family Health at the University of Northern British Columbia. She completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship and served as the principal investigator for the PICSS-PF national study at the University Hospital of Lausanne in Switzerland. In this role, she led a national project examining the long-term psychological and physical impacts of pediatric intensive care on children and families, framed through a social-ecological model.
A registered nurse with a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Dr. Rahmaty brings over six years of research experience in the United States and Switzerland before joining the faculty in Canada. Her research centers on improving health outcomes for children and families through rigorous, innovative methodologies, with expertise in advanced statistics, research design, and clinical project management.
Dr. Rahmaty has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including PICS-p, child development, weight management, and family functioning. She is passionate about advancing pediatric health science and values collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and networks. Her academic achievements have been recognized through numerous awards and honors.
